Concours Detailing

This is just a guide below of what can be done, but everything in the Concours Detail is bespoke to your exact requirements and needs.

Underside and Engine

1/ When the vehicle arrives for a full detailing program, we first of all check the vehicle over with the customer for any signs of damage.

2/ Then we power wash the full underside / floor pan and chassis of the vehicle.

3/ This is then followed by a full steam clean of the engine compartment, using a product to gently break down all dirt particles and oil build up residues.

4/ Next is to dry all the areas with special air drying equipment.

Bodywork

5/ The first stage is to wash the full body down with a special car shampoo, to clean and care for the bodywork, then to wash and treat the soft top if your vehicle has one with a fabric cleaner and enhancer, which contains products that are the most gentle products for your soft top available today, that will only clean and enhance the condition of the roof. At this stage we inspect the paint work with our microscopic equipment looking for faults, scratches and previous signs of re painting to ensure we get the full picture and what we are up against, enabling us to achieve that better than perfect finish. To find out the paint thicknesses we use paint depth gauges to ensure we have a quality base to work with, find all the weak points in the paints finish.

6/ The second stage is to Clay Block and Cleanse the full body, windows, wheels and more, this process removes all types of contamination from the body and industrial fallout, tree sap, railroad dust, carbon deposits and fall out etc. The Clay Block is a special product that was used many years ago by body shops to remove over spray from cars but has now been developed to be used all over the body to remove all bonded contaminants, to allow the paint correction and rejuvenation process to start taking place. Have you ever drawn your hand across your paint just after washing expecting smoothness only to feel lots of little bumps and bits of dirt everywhere? Late-model paints, once cured, are harder than old-fashioned enamels (especially the clear-coat), and will show minor abuse quickly. Tiny bits of sharp stuff like dust and metal fragments can stick into that clear-coat and normal washing won’t remove them. If you don’t get rid of them, the Grim Reaper is coming for your paint. The same effect of "dragging traction" encountered when drying with a chamois, is what makes the clay bar so effective (but in a positive way). First off, the car must be freshly bathed to use the clay, or the bar will choke on all surface-bound dirt and probably scratch the paint. When lightly rubbed over the surface of your clean paint, lubricated by a coat of detailing spray, the clay will pick up embedded particles in your paint that would otherwise remain after washing.

7/ The next stage is the special paint correction system, which is unique to The Detailing Company & the service we carry out, when it’s a pure perfect mirror finish that’s required, this will be achieved using the finest products around today, these products work on a much gentler process than the traditional harsh abrasives, plus the slower this process is done the better the results will be, constant reading of paint depth is also undertaken, along with microscope vision as well, this will eliminate all paint imperfections and swirl marks, by using the polish and the glaze you then form the base for the next and most important stages of the process. It will take anything from a full day to several days on its own to professionally carry out our unique paint correction system.

8/ At this point we wash the vehicle down again with the special shampoo, the reason for doing this is that each time you wash the vehicle through these processes you are putting more and more goodness and richness back into the paint and making the colour stand out even more, you are also eliminating the possibility of scratches appearing back in the paint work, in effect you are putting more and more depth and colour into the paint, making the paint correction system take its full effect to correct every part of the paint.

9/ The next stage is to use a product that will enhance the paintwork; this will clean the paint and bring it back to its original state from new leaving it feeling slick and smooth. A cleaner wax / polish removes all old dead oxidized paint, the balance of any scratches, accumulated road film, tar, acid rain deposits, and renewing your paints original lustre. How it is able to do this is because it is feeding the pores of the paint with richness and vitamins to bring back the full lustre of the paint. All these processes are very important factors in keeping the paint in perfect condition, but the paint pores must be opened first of all to allow the paint to take in the goodness of the products.

10/ The final stage for the body is to apply the “ Car Body Wax Protection”; this is the ultimate in wax protection. This can take a full day on its own to carry out to perfection, this is a very complicated process as you can’t just polish in any direction, you have to polish with the direction of the light on each section to give you the Ultimate shine and depth of gloss, polishing is done in this way so that you achieve the most powerful reflectology and perfect direction of gloss possible, achieving a true glass look and wet look finish. We only use Pure Carnauba protecting Paste Waxes, created from the worlds finest blend of Brazilian No1 Carnauba’s. This process is repeated several times over the next few days giving you the ultimate in protection and reflection.

Interior Cleaning

11/ The interior is fully cleaned, all seats are taken out of the vehicle to clean and shampoo the carpets correctly if required, all door side trims are taken off to clean them and behind them if required, the boot area is taken apart all carpeting is taken out and all internal paint surfaces are polished and protected. All seat’s, if leather, are professionally cleaned and fed to enhance the suppleness, the leather will have a nice smooth finish and the colouring will be totally enhanced to almost as good as new, You will also notice that your car’s interior if leather will smell like it has just come out of the factory and feel and look better than new.

All the plastic work inside is cleaned first and then treated, to enhance the finish and apply a smooth satin factory finish.

How Long Does It Take To Complete A Concours Detail?

To professionally detail an interior on a vehicle takes 2 days to complete to do a true and correct professional procedure, to deep cleanse, with delicate cleaning solutions and techniques that are hundreds of years old, that we have discovered and converted them into 21st century procedures to allow the interior fabric trim or leather hide to be treated with the care it needs, to re-gain that sparkle to the fabric trim or that brand new supple feeling and smell of brand new leather hide, the process will make leather hide smell brand new, like it just came off the production line.

To professionally prepare and detail a vehicles body, including carrying out our very unique paint correction system to rejuvenate {along with protection techniques}, will take up to 4 days depending on the level of detailing, rejuvenation and protection that is required.

To professionally detail the underside of a vehicle will take approx 1½ days to complete depending on the detail required.

To professionally Waxoyl a full vehicle again can take up to 3 days to complete, to ensure a most professional thorough job is carried out to give you a good 5 years of protection minimum from rust attacking your vehicle.

Summing Up

As a final summing up in the process used to detail a vehicle, we would like to point out that the wheels on the vehicle are taken off including the spare and are fully cleaned inside and outside of the alloy and protecting with a special Wheel Wax to help stop the build up of brake dust and to help stop moisture attacking the wheels and causing pitting. While the wheels are off the vehicle the entire wheel arch area is fully cleaned and polished as well. All vinyl parts on a vehicle are cleaned and treated with a vinyl cleaner and feeder. The feeding system releases solvents and restores moisture in all vinyl and plastic components. All tyres including the spare are cleaned and then Tyre Preserve is applied to both sides of the tyres giving them a look that is better than new and perfectly dry.

A great deal of our work is done at an hourly rate.

Or if a fixed price quote is desired, this will be supplied.
